A piece for brass trio of trumpet, horn, and tuba.

The trumpet part must be written for Bb or C trumpet; however, flugelhorn or piccolo trumpet may be used as additional instruments within the piece. 

The minimum difficulty level should be for undergraduate college performers.

The piece must be at least five minutes in length.

Scores must be submitted in pdf format.

Remove any identifying marks from the score including composer’s name, publisher, etc.

Audio recording is not required but is useful and midi audio is acceptable if no live recording exists.

There is no fee to submit entries.

Only the name of the work must be clearly written on the score. Do not include the applicant’s name or any other information that could identify the applicant.

The name of the work must be written in the original title (in any language) and its English translation.

IWBC reserves the right to decide to not award a winning composition if the level and quality of the submissions are not up to an adequate standard of composition. Scores are expected to be fully edited and publication ready.

Composers are welcome to submit multiple entries

Any entries that do not meet the qualifications will be discarded

Free conference registration for the International Women’s Brass Conference that year.

Honorable mentions may be awarded

Composer must be female-identifying

The work must have been composed after January 1, 2024

Any age or nationality is eligible; past winners of the IWBC Composition Competition are not eligible to apply.

The winner should be able to attend the Conference – which will be held at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from June 9-12, 2027.
